ACI was selected as the Design-Assist partner for Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection for this new state-of-the-art 250,000 SF manufacturing facility located in Daleville, VA. The entire facility is heated and cooled using a central heated and chilled water system with rooftop air handling units. In addition, ACI installed the process compressed air and water piping systems. This project began in June 2017 and was ready for partial production in January 2018. The entire facility was completed in April 2018.

The 3,600 seat Altria Theater, formerly the Landmark Theater, is located in the heart Richmond, Virginia. The 180,000 SF historic restoration and refurbishment helped bring the performing arts center into the 21st century. All mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air handling units, as well as associated piping and specialties, were installed via design-assist collaboration. The large historical spaces within the building made air distribution uniquely challenging. Hundreds of custom floor mounted air registers were developed for the 3,600 seat theater, not only to look the part of the historical renovation but to supply adequate HVAC throughout the space.

As preferred contractors at Virginia Tech, ACI and Faulconer teamed up to complete this project. Added two new (3,000 ton) chillers to the North plant and replaced the single-cell cooling tower with a new three cell FRP tower over the concrete coated basin. ACI managed all subcontractors including, steel, lighting protection, crane and rigging, masonry, overhead doors, doors/frames, TAB. We also added one 3000 ton chiller to the Southwest Chiller Plant with a new 2 cell cooling tower on the roof. ACI prefabricated 36 inches and 24-inch pipe in our Richmond fab shop as well as new pump skids. Southwest Chiller plant was completed in 6 months. North Chiller Plant was completed in nine months. Both projects finished on time and within the budget.
